Something's Coming

Ballet and dance honoring iconic moments from movie musicals.

The Axelrod Contemporary Ballet Theater presents a program of suites from favorite musicals, including George Gershwin’s lyrical and jazzy An American in Paris and Porgy and Bess, Leonard Bernstein’s urban and immortal West Side Story, Sheldon Harnick’s iconic Fiddler on the Roof and more. Directed and choreographed by Gabriel Chajnik, Something’s Coming will feature the professional members of AXCBT in brand new choreography that celebrates the greatness of their original creators: Gene Kelly, Christopher Wheeldon, and Jerome Robbins.

The LOST Princess of OZ

A BALLET WORLD PREMIERE

L. Frank Baum returns us to the Emerald City, where we encounter a new adventure with Glinda the Good Witch, the Wizard and Dorothy. A sequel to The Wizard of Oz, published over 100 years ago, The Lost Princess of Oz is Baum’s lost masterpiece, a fantastic romp with favorite Oz characters and some intriguing new ones. When Princess Ozma unexplainably disappears, Dorothy, Glinda and the Wizard join forces, and the magical adventure introduces us to the Frogman, Betsy Bobbin, Button-Bright and Ugu the Shoemaker. This original dance-musical is a World Premiere created by director-choreographer Gabriel Chajnik.
